Christmas and a link to a giveaway !!

Well the Holiday Season is here now .  Don't get stressed over gifts and decorating and parties and presents . Try to just reflect on the true meaning of Christmas ; the Birth of our Savior , Jesus .

A few things finished this week ! 

 

 A polar fleece blanket for Sophie ; an apron and table runner for a secret Santa Swap . Below are pictures of each to see them better !!

This is Fancy Nancy Polar Fleece that I got for an amazing clearance price from Joann.com . My granddaughter found it and started using it as a blanket when she stays here while her mom works the overnight shift . So I trimmed it up , turned under the edges and did a decorative stitch around it . She will be so proud of my finish when she comes over next time !!

This is a 10 Minute Table Runner I made for my secret Santa swap partner .

Please excuse my shoes and the clutter in the background !! This is a reversible apron ( it's the dark green
on the back like the trim and ties ) . I combined 2 tutorials and am pleased with how it turned out ! It's for my secret Santa swap partner also . I sure hope she likes these 2 items !

Finally !!! some sewing !!!

I have not been doing any sewing since the end of May . However , FINALLY !!!! , I got back at it ! 
I made some promises to some , and now , it's all piled up and needs to be done !!! YAY for pressure ! And then , I saw this post as I was cruising the internet , INSTEAD of sewing ! ( ha )

It's Amy Creative Side ONE THING , ONE WEEK CHALLENGE !!  I knew it was time to get serious . Even though I saw it late in the week , I posted !! ( thanks Amy !) 

Here is what I accomplished : 

-- 3 zipper pouches out of some prequilted fabric bought a long , long time ago !
--  Repurposed 2 pair of jeans into capris ( and had to do some adjustments in the fit !) ( Couldn't find any in my size at Kohl's big sale and I had a 30% off on top of that ; however , I did get a good deal on 2 pair of jeans for hubby for work !! )
-- AND a big pile ( 17 ) of flannel burp rags cut out and all ready to be sewn TODAY !!!!

Bloggers Quilt Festival Spring 2012

My entry to the Bloggers Quilt Festival SPRING !!!! 

 QUILT DONATED FOR AN EPILEPSY PATIENT !

I am a member of JUST US QUILTERS group on facebook .
I wanted to make a few blocks for a monthly project : https://www.facebook.com/groups/JustUSQuilters/doc/339864252726460/

well , It turned into more and more , and then I decided to make the whole quilt to help out the gal
that would be collecting the blocks and creating quilts to donate !  I think that is why it's special to
me ! I had the quilting done by a longarmer ; she quilted flowers in each block and she did an
awesome job !   Beth , the gal in charge of the project , was pleased with it . I sent it to her a few
weeks ago and I cut some strips and sent them to her for the rest of the quilts she will be making !
God bless her !!!!

Beth picked the block and requested purple be in it . I kept in contact with her to make sure it was
what she was thinking of .

I learned to NOT waste time trying to figure out placement and this and that  . I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what would look best ; and found myself looking at blocks online that others had  made and went with the light and dark placements from what I liked !!!   I am not artistic !! I just sew !!!!! I'm not a
'designer' and look and stuff and do what looks good to ME !  I have been quilting for almost 4 years ; have been sewing for over 40 years or so ! ( wow ; I'm getting old ! ) .
